Imran Khan: The Peace Maker!

Imran Khan: The Peace Maker!

Kathmandu: Needless to say, India’s loss in Nepal is China’s gains.

By the same token, India’s loss in South Asian region is a huge gain for India’s declared rival-Pakistan now being led by the ace cricketer Imran Khan.

To be candid, after the August 5/19 annexation of Kashmir by the Indian union, if India has been constantly losing popularity and prestige in the comity of nations then by “default” Pakistan has gained globally.

The more India pounces upon Pakistan and expresses its jealousy over China, the more India is being exposed in the international arena that began with the harsh comments made by China, Malaysia and Turkey on the illegal annexation of Kashmir in the United Nations general Assembly this September.

The Turkish President and the Malaysian Prime Minister went too far and warned the Indian establishment to mend its differences at the earliest with Pakistan on the Kashmir issue and let the Kashmiri population determine their fate as per the previous UN resolutions that allow the Himalayan people to determine their fate on their own.

The two towering Muslim leaders spoke in favor of the Kashmiri population but Indian Prime Minister Modi and his erratic team led by trouble maker Ajit Doval and Blockade designer Minister Shankar took their soft stance on Kashmir as to have been an orchestrated design of Pakistan and thus India decided to keep both Turkey and Malaysia at a distance even in its bilateral relations.

India wrongly thought that Pakistan lured Malaysia and Turkey.

By default this again is a gain to Pakistan.

Dr. Mahathir can’t be equated with fake Delhi University Graduates.

Dr. Mahathir while commands respect then PM Modi is taken as a blot in the face of democracy. Modi leads Mobocracy in fact.

Virtually in South Asia, the two declared/undeclared protectorates came in support of the Indian regime on Kashmir annexation or else rest of the Nations spoke in favor of the Kashmiri people and condemned the clampdown which tentatively boxed the entire Kashmiri population for over two months.

Bangladesh taking sides of India is logical for multiple-political reasons.

Those who have read the history of the emergence of Bangladesh need no further explanation as to why B’desh is obliged to support India.

But yet the Chinese have reportedly made deep inroads in the country’s development efforts. Some even claim that the present B’desh cabinet has some ministers of China’s choice which perhaps is sufficient for India to pull hairs. This means that Bangladesh too has some reservations on India now.

Bhutan too wishes to acquire a separate political personality in the comity of nations however, but is scared of the possible Indian wrath of the sort of 2013.

In fact the big bang with which China has entered Pakistan through China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and very freshly in Nepal needs to be repeated in Bangladesh and Bhutan for several logical reasons.

Chinese President Xi Jinping came, and saw, and finally conquered Nepal speaking on political terms. In Latin it is said, Vini, Vidi, Vici.

India definitely has been distanced. A frightened New Delhi is likely to review its “coercive” Nepal policy.

India makes tall promises. China completes the assigned and the promised projects. This is the marked and notable difference between India and China at least from the Nepali perspectives.

China understands what we mean to say and if that happens then that should prompt China to further expand its influence in these countries which means that India will have to pack from these tortured countries only to be replaced by comparatively comfortable development-companion that China is.

But China must take care of the sovereignty of the countries wherein she is engaged in development works. Or else why China should be preferred by the India tortured smaller nation of South Asia?

The smaller nations in South Asia in essence want to say good bye to India for various understandable reasons though these countries can’t air their inner desire for fear of, for example, Nepal fears imposition of Economic Blockade.

China’s continued and unconditional political backing to Pakistan has encouraged this country to expand its diplomatic reach in the nearby countries like Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Pakistan’s Imran Khan has made some “facilitation” efforts to patch up the differences in between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

PM Khan was last week in Iran talking to the high profile Iranian leaders.

Notably, PM Khan made it clear several times that he was not acting like a mediator in between Iran and Saudi Arabia, however, he would at best be act like a “facilitator” in between the two Muslim countries who now even not in speaking terms.

In the process, PM Khan and President Hassan Rouhani held talks in the Iranian capital, Tehran, as part of a Pakistani initiative to defuse the increasing tensions in the Gulf and mediate between regional foes, Iran and Saudi Arabia, reports Al Jazeera October 13/19.

Khan, Pakistan’s prime minister, arrived in Tehran on Sunday – the first leg of a tour that also includes a stop in Saudi Arabia.

“The reason for this trip is that we do not want a conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran,” said PM Khan told reporters as he stood alongside the Iranian president Rouhani.

At a joint press conference after the conclusion of Khan’s visit, Rouhani made it known to the attending pressmen that “Iran desired to resolve the issues in the region through dialogue, despite a flare-up of violence targeting oil facilities in both Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Both governments blame each other for the attacks.

President Rouhani has brought into use the word “desire” which means that PM Khan has convinced the Iranian leader of the benefits of unity among the Muslim nations at this critical juncture.

Rouhani appears thus to have moderated his firm stance on Saudi Arabia and assured PM Khan that his country shall now appreciate any talks with the Saudi Arabia.

A great job was done. Iran reportedly has also appealed PM Khan to cool down the US through his mediatory role.

PM Khan’s diplomatic stature has increased of late in that he has been apparently requested by the US President Donald Trump to be of substantial support to him on easing the US tensions in Afghanistan and “mediate” the US-Iran war like situation.

This does mean that both US and Iran now repose trust on the ace cricketer Khan who is happy with the visiting British Royals.

Prince William is the son of Lady Dianna and PM Khan had personal friendship with the British Princess. Lady Diana had visited Pakistan in the nineties.

The visit by the British Royals is expected to enhance international image of Pakistan.

India must have felt the jolt.

Not so many people know the underneath reason as to why Pakistan Prime Minister Khan returned to the US soon after he flew from New York to his country (Pakistan) on September 27 afternoon.

In effect the Saudi Aircraft which was carrying PM Khan to Pakistan returned back to New York only to meet some high US Administration officials who appealed him to bring in the Afghani-Talibans to the negotiating table and also defuse the US-Iran and Iran-Saudi relations.

This event was misinterpreted by the Godi media and presented in a very bad way which tentatively insulted the Saudi Crown Prince.

Crown Prince MBS continues to have intimate ties with PM Khan despite the rumor made otherwise by the Godi media.

In an exclusive interview with CNN’s Max Foster, the Pakistani cricket legend turned politician said that US President Donald Trump had asked him to help defuse tensions by acting as a “go-between” with Iran, writes David Wilkinson and max Factor for the CNN dated October 16/19.

Perhaps for this special meet with Trump, PM Khan returned to the US the same evening.

“What I like about him is he does not believe in wars,” Khan said of the US President, speaking to CNN in Islamabad.

This does mean that PM Khan has been helping the US President Donald Trump.

Khan’s peace initiatives taken in the recent days and weeks does tell that he is not only assisting President Trump but is also doing good for his own country which needs friendly ties with the countries in the vicinity.

He favors close ties with India but the latter is not interested in bringing in peace in the entire SA region.

Interestingly, poor India is nowhere in the political scene/events neither of the South Asian region nor in the political events that have drawn the attention of international leaders in and around the Gulf region.

Peace in this part of the world means great for Pakistan and China more so for the smooth functioning of the CPEC mega projects.

Addressing the joint news conference prior to his departure to Saudi Arabia upon completion of his “wide-ranging consultations” with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, PM Khan said that his country’s close ties with both Tehran and Riyadh go a long way back and Islamabad will do its utmost to prevent a conflict between the two Islamic countries.

That Saudi Arabia and Iran appear to have softened their stance for each other became evident when Pakistan said this Wednesday that Saudi Arabia and Iran have both shown a willingness to settle mutual disputes through diplomacy and negotiations, reducing chances of an immediate war in the Gulf.

The development stemmed from Islamabad’s diplomatic initiative aiming to defuse Tehran’s escalating tensions with Riyadh and “facilitate” possible talks between the two rivals, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told reporters, writes Ayaz Gul for the Voice of America dated 16 October.

In the meanwhile, the U.S. officials and representatives of the Afghan Taliban have begun discussing ways to revive a peace process after talks fell apart last month, according to people familiar with the discussions, writes Jessica Donati for the Wall Street Journal dated October 13/19.

The top U.S. envoy for Afghanistan reconciliation, Zalmay Khalilzad, met international diplomatic counterparts in New York in late September and met with the Taliban in Pakistan earlier this month, adds Jessica for the WSJ.

The meetings touched on confidence-building measures that could include a possible prisoner swap or a reduction in violence, according to the people familiar with the discussions.

To sum up, With India’s declining image in the comity of nations except the two nearest “subjugated and coerced” protectorates, Khan’s diplomacy of facilitation is being taken note of by the countries of the region and beyond. So then is PM Khan a real peace maker, or regional mediator or even a peace facilitator?

Center of gravity of the world politics has definitely shifted to China, South Asia and the Gulf region and PM Khan is likely to emerge as a peace maker in this greater South and central Asia which shall later include the Gulf region as well.

PM Modi’s erratic acts and Hindutva stupidity also has by default encouraged PM Khan to take up the role of the peace builder.
Modi’s continued erratic acts have yielded much for PM Khan speaking in terms of real politic.

For the Road: The Washington post editorial dated 16 October/19 mentions that “India’s repression in Kashmir is not compatible with democracy’. Mask is being pulled by the US/Western media. Indian narratives no more credible at least at the public domain.
