Kathmandu: On December 7, The Ambassador of Japan in Nepal Kikuta handed over 168 books for Japanese study to Dr. Yadav Raj Panta, the Campus Chief of Campus of International Languages, TU.
The books are donated by the Nippon Foundation’s “Read Japan Project”. The collection includes a wide range of titles, from classics on Japanese literature and culture to contemporary political and economic issues and will be housed in the library of the Campus.
After the ceremony, Ambassador Kikuta met the faculties and students studying Japanese language. He stated that language learning is not only memorizing words and capturing grammar.
He expressed his hope that students, through learning Japanese, would deepen their understanding on Japan’s deep history, fascinating culture, and efforts for modernization. In a friendly atmosphere, the students actively asked the Ambassador questions on topics ranging from recent Japan-Nepal relations, how to memorize Kanji characters to World Cup soccer games.
Ambassador Kikuta also visited the office of JALTAN to express his deep appreciation for their dedication to Japanese language education in Nepal, not only in the classroom but also through events such as speech contests and karaoke competitions.
