Nepal: Why the target is German envoy Dr Thomas Prinz only?

Kathmandu: Smaller nations more so the weaker and under developed ones are generally degraded, insulted and humiliated by the bigger countries who command respect and honor for being “developed west”.

But has the developed West the license to insult others or even poke its nose in the exclusive internal affairs of other countries?

Do they possess the authority to malign or to make illogical and undiplomatic comments against a third country that is an equally friend of the host country of the posted diplomat?

Equally true is that the smaller countries also possess no rights or whatsoever to launch illogical and baseless comments on the developed Western countries under any pretext or the other.

Both small and the bigger nations must restrain themselves prior to passing on pinching remarks.

Diplomacy and diplomatic conducts are sensitive issues.

The diplomatic behaviors set by the Geneva Convention must be adhered to both by the smaller and the bigger and the developed nations. It applies to both bigger and small.

One such instance has come to our notice wherein an Ambassador of a very friendly country, the Federal Republic of Germany, made some erratic comments on China while being posted in Nepal.

Needless to say, though China is not a reliable partner of Nepal but yet any derogatory remarks made on China from the Nepali soil perhaps can’t be taken in a light manner.

It is altogether a different matter that China and Germany enjoy very cordial ties.

Here three countries are involved which is against the universal conduct of a diplomat.

The German Ambassador posted in Nepal, Dr. Thomas Prinz, made recently some comments on China wherein he reportedly stated that “Nepali people’s objection to the MCC agreement was driven by fake news spread by China”.

Dr. Bhim Bahadur Rawal, a communist political personality of Nepal has drawn the attention of the Nepali population as regards the somewhat awkward comments made by the German Ambassador in Nepal.

Dr. Rawal through his December 5, 2022 Twitter account says that, “the objection to the MCC agreement was driven by ‘fake news ’spread by China”.
MCC is a US project that Nepal has freshly approved through Parliament.

Dr. Rawal says that he (the German envoy) made a, in his own words, slanderous statement that “a lot of journalists in Nepal were paid by the outsiders for the purpose”.

The German envoy reportedly said, as per the Nepal Live Today news portal dated December 3, 2022, that, “I remember the campaign against MCC last year. There were a lot of fake news reports.

It was even written that MCC coming to Nepal was a kind of American occupation and that soldiers would come here to Nepal and Nepal would lose its independence”.

Objecting to such statements coming as it does from a Kathmandu based dignitary (diplomat), Dr. Rawal-the UML affiliated Communist leader Dr. Rawal says, in his own reiteration, that “such pugnacious statements not only violate diplomatic norms but also attacks the dignity and independence of Nepal and that such slanderous and arrogant utterances against Nepal and its patriotic people are completely refutable and despicable”.

[For details see the Twitter account Bhim Rawal, PhD, @Bhim Rawal 179]

All said and done, Bhim Rawal- the veteran communist leader was a few years ago taken as the US contact person as reported then by the WikiLeaks.

Rawal, it was in the rumor, that he was having close connections with the Indian Congress leader P. Chidambaram.

By the way, Dr. Bhim Rawal has so far kept a studied silence over the day to day intervention of the Indian regime and more so of the Indian Ambassador Navin Shrivastab who much ahead of the election results had begun meeting the India “comfortable” and instructing them to form a government that should be anti-China and most “comfortable” to the Indian regime.

Dr. Rawal perhaps prefers to forget that it is the Indian regime that since the very next day of the signing of the bilateral treaty of Peace and Friendship October 31, 1950, Indian interventions in Nepal continues.

Is it that the Indian Ambassador’s excessive penetration in Nepal’s internal matters do not violate diplomatic norms and doesn’t attack on the dignity and independence of Nepal?
Dr. Rawal must answer if he is a true nationalist as he claims to be for himself.

Say observers that with the signing of this treaty with India, to be candid, Nepal has neither Peace nor intimate friendship with India born 1947.

The fact is that the Indian regime presumably is “running the Nepal’s entire political and administrative affairs.

Is Dr. Rawal listening? Or he prefers to act like Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde?
