Biratnagar/Islamabad: The Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad organized, November 02, 2023, a talk program titled ‘Nath Tradition in Nepal and Pakistan’.
On the occasion, Dr. Bhola Nath Yogi-a distinguished scholar from Nepal spoke about the ancient Nath Tradition that was once had strong roots in Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Attok and many other places in Punjab and Sindh of Pakistan.
Dr. Bhola Nath , on the occasion, also shed lights on the Nath influence notably in Sufism in particular in Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, Baba Bulle Shah, Kabir, Baba Farid Shakaganj, Guru Nanak Dev and others.
At the opening of the talk program held inside the premises of Nepal Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan His Excellency Tapas Adhikari shared that Naths were in effect preachers of humanity and messengers of peace following their guru and founder of the Nath Hindu monastic movement, Gorakhnathji.
Ambassador Adhikari also shared that the word Gurkha is derived from guru Gorakhnath and has great influence in the Nepali society.
The programme was attended by Pakistani Professors, journalists, friends of Nepal and Nepali nationals based in Islamabad.
The program was a grand success and the attending guests listened to the talk of the Dr. Bhola Nath Yogi with great interest.
Ambassador Adhikari thanked the entire attending guests from Islamabad for their kind attendance.
