Kathmandu, March 31: The Embassy of Pakistan in Nepal organized the launching ceremony of a book on Pakistan’s Buddhist heritage titled “Buddhism and Buddhist Heritage in Pakistan” authored by eminent author Mr. Om Charan Amatya.

Honourable Mr. Prem Bahadur Ale, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal, graced the occasion.

Mr. Bidya Sundar Shakya, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) presided over the event.

Special Guests at the occasion included H.E. Mr. Esala Ruwan Weerakoon, Secretary General SAARC Secretariat, Kathmandu; H.E. Ms. Himalee Arunatilaka, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal; H.E. Vosita Vorasaph, Ambassador of Thailand to Nepal; H.E. Mr. Sein Oo, Ambassador of Myanmar to Nepal; and Prof. Dr. Hridaya Ratna Bajracharya, Vice Chancellor, Lumbini Buddhist University, Lumbini besides venerable monks and Buddhist scholars.

Addressing the occasion, Honourable Mr. Bidya Sundar Shakya, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City highlighted the significance of cultural heritage as an important facet of people-to-people contacts.

He termed the Buddhist heritage as a joint legacy of both the countries.

H.E. Syed Haider Shah, Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal highlighted the significance of cultural and historical linkages in strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Nepal.

He commended the author for his meticulous work.
