Kathmandu: Nepali media reports hint that President Xi Jinping may visit Nepal this year end.
However, our own sources say that “given the lukewarm” treatment accorded to the visiting Chinese State Counsellor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, it is highly unlikely that the State Counsellor could convince his President to visit Nepal this year.
The State Counselor and the foreign minister Wang Yi is not a “crane elevated” foreign minister like Nepal’s foreign minister Pradip Gyawali who, extremely sorry to say, is incompetent and incapable enough in handling Nepal’s diplomacy.
That Gyawali summarily failed to keep his nation’s head high got reflected in the issue of the Indian aggression on Kashmir for which as the Chair of the SAARC, picked up foreign minister Pradip Gyawali changed his statement twice well within a short span of ten days.
But yet his modesty has got to be appreciated.
While Wang Yi has worked hard in the past and that he “is globally recognized” as a tough negotiator and he thus talks with the USA straight then our “modest and honest” foreign minister appears always shy and timid.
So how he could have faced Indian foreign Minister Shankar and Chinese minister Wang Yi is any body’s guess.
Since he was not accorded the due treatment that he commanded and so the Chinese foreign Minister found it more comfortable for having some fun and went for a small trek in the nearby Chandra Giri Hills.
Normally Chinese senior diplomats rarely go in for an outing as he did in Kathmandu.
This was just unusual.
That he was not at all satisfied with his Nepal visit got reflected when he pledged prior to his Beijing departure for some tarpoline tents and the building of a Hospital in the Far western region.
And poor Nepal accepted the dirt cheap tents. Isn’t it that beggars shall remain ever beggars?
However, the fear is that whether those tents shall ever reach to the people for whom it was provided by Beijing so graciously?
That was all from the Chinese side when the high ranking minister could have awarded more gifts for Nepal had he been well taken care of.
His visit was sans hospitality.
The fact is that the Chinese Minister came at a time which coincided with a big Nepal-India friendship celebration. This was almost like a national celebration for some.
Nepal’s Prime Minister and the entire national leadership had concentrated their efforts in the “inauguration” of a petroleum pipeline that Joins Motihari with Amlekganj in Nepal.
So the attention naturally was towards on how to please the neighboring Hitler Indian Prime Minister Modi which may have been well noted by the visiting State Counsellor from China.
Given these developments which he observed for himself the question is: how the Chinese foreign minister could convince his President for a short trip to Nepal?
He must have noted as to how the Nepali leadership get excited as and when it is an affair related with the Blockade Chief PM Modi.
The inaugural of the petro-pipeline shall make India much easier to control the flow of the gasoline if India feels that China has already influenced Nepal.
Even a minor mistake of Nepal PM Oli may bring us for yet another Economic Blockade.
(But the population is though ready to brave such Indian regular disturbances).
By the way, Comrade Prachanda, Nepal’s double-speak-player that he is taken as, has met with the Chinese dignitary.
How Prachanda would have enchanted Minister Wang Yi is any body’s guess. Minister Wang perhaps needs no further introduction of Comrade Prachanda-the former Delhi’s NOIDA dweller.
But yet as a sophisticated Chinese diplomat Mr. Wang reluctantly has informed about high chance of President Xi’s visit in the near future.
In diplomacy, the selection of the words are even counted. He is not an elevated Foreign Minister.
But if President Xi visits Nepal, he should make a short landing for the Nepali population. The Nepali people have high regards for President Xi.
This is the message.
