Electioneering has  commenced in Nepali Public Relations Committee-America Chapter (NPRCA).

The committee is an affiliate of Nepal’s main opposition, Nepali Congress Party and the American chapter is currently headed by Ananda Bista.

Local leaders in New York City held a meeting recently where they also decided to hold its convention after the Dashain Festival.

Dashain festival will be celebrated in Nepal and by the Nepali Hindu diaspora during the month of October, 2018.

Current President Bista, it was informed during the meeting, will not contest the election.

With this, local leaders Somnath Ghimire, Nripa Bista, Munindra Nembang and Dhananjaya Narsingh KC have kicked off their election campaign for the post of the committee president.

Similar to Nepali Congress party back home, it is learnt through insiders that the America Chapter is also divided in two strong camps.

Whereas Somnath Ghimire is backed by Nepal’s Koirala-Poudel (Koirala family and Ram Chandra Poudel) faction, Nirpa Bista is supported by the Deuba faction.

The Nepali Congress is headed by Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Candidate Dhananjaya Narsingh KC, who is also the existing senior vice president of NPRCA, is the brother of Nepali Congress leader Arjun Narsingh KC and the Krishna Prasad Sitaula faction has extended its support to him.

Insiders also reveal that financial irregularities are rampant in the committee.
