NP Upadhyaya: Kathmandu: With the settlement of the “genuine” concerns raised by Dr. Gobind KC, we prefer to question as to ‘at what cost the Doctor’s concerns had been settled’? Our own answer would be at the price of the institutionalization of a sort of dangerous polarization of the national population. Whether such a polarization bodes well for the country and its people or not perhaps will take some time to lead us all to the final conclusions, however, what is for sure is that the alien force which preferred a grand fissure to be created in between the domestic population has in effect won the battle that we fought on behalf of the alien force to whom we even don’t know but just can imagine? The player remained in the dark and made us all to fight as we fought during 2005-6.
This is the fact. You have the liberty to disagree with our contentions. But we remain undeterred because we knew that this polarization was a sponsored one and the last political change too was an imposed on Nepal.
The inimical force got its prime job done and that too with proper finesse and “we the people” could not even understand as to why we had been fighting with each other over a minor issue blown out of proportion? The pretext is ready. You can’t have the cake and eat it too. Two plum posts in the parliament for a single party? Damn not. The issue has been found and the fight is awaits announcement. And the judiciary muddle is yet another frightening issue. Look how Nepal is being made defunct by the alien force in series. First, Nepali monarchy was overthrown. The second target has been seemingly the Nepali Congress and the third definitely is the nation’s judiciary. Things are moving with “designs”. Ulterior motives have been imported in the nation. We remain as mere spectators. At best we bark in the social media which has become now a fashion.
Prachanda has become restive and says he is practically disturbed. This means that the System or at least the Oli regime is in trouble. Signals have approached Nepal to destabilize Oli government. It appears that Oli cannot even complete two years term. Forget his claim of two thirds majority.
Now Pakistan: Cricket star Imran Khan’s party, says it had enough support in the National Assembly to form a government after more than a week of talks with other parties and independent politicians.
Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), or Pakistan Movement for Justice, did better than expected to scoop up 16.86 million votes, defeating the party of jailed former premier Nawaz Sharif, which finished second with 12.89 million, say media reports.
The new government is likely to take a shape much ahead of Pak Independence day which falls on August 14.
The change of guards in Pakistan, the arch rival of India, has tentatively disturbed the peace of minds of the adherents of the most infamous Nehruvian doctrine in that the regional countries which used to obey the dictates of the Indian regime like servants, (under coercion though) have begun slowly saying good bye to India and have found a reliable new partner in the recently emerged all powerful nation called China in their own neighborhood.
Beginning Wuhan then to Qingdao and finally very freshly in Johannesburg, the regional bully chief PM Modi has met with the Chinese President Xi Jinping but yet has so far failed to avert the Chinese threat of yet another punch.
The punch is tentatively ready but has come across a technical glitch because of the fresh Pakistan election and with the emergence of world famous cricketer Imran Khan that has delayed this much awaited punch which shall take its toll only after observing the coronation of the newly elected Pakistan Prime Minister-Imran Khan.
Imran’s sudden emergence in the South Asian politics will in all likelihood force the US under President Trump to extend his hands of friendship with Pakistan and seek his help in bringing about the much elusive peace in and around Afghanistan. The US has provided already hint to this effect.
The US understands better that Imran Khan enjoys the backing of China and Russia and thus would seek to normalize its ties with Pakistan-the US’s cold war time ally but now almost an enemy. Fresh news is that Russia is not that happy with Indian politics of flip flop being exhibited by PM Modi-the unstable man on earth.
After the interval of several decades the South Asian politics has got a charismatic persona on whom not only his nationals repose trust but is equally adored and taken in high esteem by the peace loving population of the otherwise hostile Indian republic born 1947.
PM Modi’s domineering associated with humiliating politics has now come to an end only to be replaced by comparatively a new political player who is not only polite but matured enough on how to play politics in the changed context that he inherits now since he jumped into this domain some two decades plus back. Inexperience in politics shall come as a boon to Imran Khan because they will wish to learn from their mistakes but yet members in his team to be in the cabinet, reportedly, were more or less security experts, for example, Dr. Shirin Mazari and the likes. At least he is not a tom-dick-harry like PM Modi.
Almost half population of the Indian union desires and fervently hopes that if South Asia were to see the prevalence of peace for all time to come then the initiatives must come, and will come for sure, from the side of Pakistan and the new ruler will definitely make positive gestures that would normalize Pak-India tensed relations since the very next days of the partition which is associated with the lingering Kashmir issue.
Kashmir shall once again come to the center stage in South Asian politics which will attract the attention of the entire world more so of the United Nations for obvious reasons.
While the next Pakistan PM in waiting Imran has already spoken that he favors real friendship with India so the ball now is in India’s Court to respond to Imran’s positive gestures in a manner as desired not only by Pakistan but also seconded by the rest of the South Asian population residing in this part of the world.
Imran by sending the conciliatory gesture across the border has now compelled India to respond to the former’s request and thus, if at all India responds to, what could be at least guessed in advance that some sort of breakthrough is in the pipeline which would smoothen the ever deteriorating Indo-Pak ties despite of the several peace overtures made by various agencies from both the countries from time to time which have so far failed to yield positive results.
The track-2 diplomacy, Neemrana and a host of others have all failed. Though Nepal and its media know little about Imran Khan (65) except that he was a veteran Cricket player and that he is an Oxonian and that he has vowed to clean the politics, regain back economic stamina which apparently plagues the nation since long. Khan is taken as qualified person in the domain of politics and economics. He studied these subjects while in Oxford.
The new Pak ruler should explore all the avenues which could normalize India-Pakistan ties. The hot line must be kept open for talks with the Indian side and vice versa. India is the real problem of South Asia.
Miyan Nawaj Sharif is talked to have milked the nation as much as he could, however, the judiciary for the moment has jailed this leader. Sharif is talked to have become serious in the jail and he demands that he be sent to a hospital for the needed treatment.
Pakistani people needed a change for the better to which they have been awarded finally with a political personality who shall in all likelihood now begin batting for Pakistan in the comity of nations.
We wish Pakistan to flourish, as a neighboring country, under the able leadership of this Oxford graduate who should begin strengthening the ties with friendly countries that had either been ignored by the previous rulers or had tilted their favor for a particular country, as Nawaz Sharif have had prior to being jailed. India was Sharif’s mentor for the later part of his politics prior to landing in the Jail.
If Imran acts in his people’s favor and the people extend their helping hands in building the nation then such a good message definitely shall approach us in minutes which shall compel our own rulers in Nepal to act in people’s favor and that way Nepali people shall benefit.
Yet for the moment, Imran’s first priority would be to keep his own people happier as promised at time of the election and then take initiatives that ensure peace in the region, with focus in troubled Afghanistan and then giving a permanent status, in fact longevity, to the CPEC mega projects that are of immense benefits to Pakistan and the entire Central Asian Republic who have in clear terms admitted their unconditional support to the China and Pakistan initiated CPEC mega projects that is going to benefit the entire countries which covers the Central Asian Republics, CARs.
Our own experience has been that each and every ruler in Nepal when he is in power begins working for India leaving its own population guessing as to when the benevolence would approach them? Hope Imran doesn’t copy Nawaz’s foot prints.
Imran Khan has already committed a blunder in that he has not spoken even a single word on SAARC-the regional body that binds us all in this region except the Goliath.
SAARC is being sidelined and BIMSTEC highlighted. The Indian design that it is.
Khan should understand that Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and the Maldives can easily be convinced by Pakistan because it is these countries who have felt the brunt of the regional devil in some way or the other in the past and thus a simple “friendly” suggestions to these shall yield results that are demanded of them that favored Pakistan’ new regime.
Bhutan in a beaming manner extended its helping hands towards Beijing only last week which means that baby Bhutan too prefers now to mature and Sri Lanka and the Maldives are already a matured country. The Indian regime is not that happy with either Sri Lanka or Maldives for having inched closer to China. Pakistan should extend its helping hands towards Bhutan as well.
Very freshly Colombo is being threatened by Delhi for some reasons. President of Sri Lanka is in trouble perhaps.
The Maldivian president has already congratulated Imran Khan and so the Afghan President Mr, Asraf Ghani who says in his message to Khan that, “I just spoke to PTI Chairman and congratulated him on the victory in parliamentary elections. We both agreed to overcome the past and to lay a foundation for a prosperous political, social and economic future of both countries. I extended an open invitation to Mr. Khan and he expressed his wishes to visit Kabul”.
Imran must exploit this opportunity provided by the Afghan President and finally blunt the Indian designs that are there beginning Balochistan and then stretching to Afghanistan. China if needed shall come to help Pakistan in order to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan. And if Afghanistan is okay then the US too would side with Pakistan for sure.
PM Modi too has congratulated Imran Khan and has hoped that “democracy” takes deep roots in Pakistan as if the Indian democracy has averted the threat to minors being raped mercilessly in the Indian regime under PM Modi. Democracy doesn’t feed the hungry bowls.
In the opinion of the Nepali observers, the China factor could act like a catalytic agent in further cementing the ties in between the smaller countries of this South Asian region with each other and also with China and Pakistan. It is here that Imran’s political acumen shall be tested. Pakistan’s Imran Khan can act like a role model leader in South Asia should he understand his popularity and internal dynamic energy that he possesses.
India promises, China delivers which is what has been experienced over these decades.
This is what Imran Khan has to cash in upon by making whirl wind tours in some neighboring countries and expand his, Pakistan’s, constituency. Pakistani credibility has to be regained by his modest and dynamic political overtures. It is here the nation needs his charismatic leadership.
India cheats, China believes in trade and commerce.
Perhaps elated by Imran’s elevation in power, veteran Bollywood actor, Rishi Kapoor has recently in a twit has said, “Well-spoken Imran Khan. I have been saying whatever you said on all the TV channels for the past two days regarding India-Pakistan. I hope you succeed in making your “Mulk” have good relations with my “Mulk”, so describes Khaleej Times dated 27 July of the Kapoor twit.
The message is that some Indian nationals hope that Imran Khan shall make bring India-Pakistan closer. Former Indian famous cricketer Kapil Dev too spoke very nice of Imran Khan. Mr Sudhendra Kulkarni is an Indian national who has vowed to bring the two brotherly countries together.
And here is NavJot Singh Siddhu, a former Cricketer turned Indian politician who says of Imran Khan that Khan is a personality who has a charisma in his personality and that he is a man of full determination. Siddhu made several positive comments on the new Pak leader and hoped that Khan would work for normalizing the tensed India-Pakistan relations. Kapil Dev, Siddhu and Amir Khan are likely to attend the August 11 ceremony of Khan being elevated to PM Post.
Siddhu recalled that under the captainship of Imran Khan, Pakistan lifted the world Cup for his country long time back.
Imran Khan has his personal constituency in India for sure. All that he has to do is to exploit this friendly relations with some of his old friends who were in the Cricket club of India.
Captain’s sixer on first ball after elections.
Imran Khan won a lot of hearts with his victory speech. Appreciations in national and international media continues.
In a nationally televised speech, the PM in waiting said the following: All policies for ordinary citizens; # Safeguard tax revenue; # Decrease government expenses; # strengthen institutions; # Better ties with China, Afghanistan, and Iran. US and India; # Accountability for all; # Increase youth employment; # Help farmers, business community; # Spend money on development.
The Oxford Graduate Imran Khan assured his countrymen by saying that, in his own words, (sic), and “So far we have seen that one who comes to power Changes. That will not happen with me”, so writes the Dawn Daily dated 26 July, 2018.
When grilled by the Indian media man, Rajdeep Sardesai, the former Army Chief General Pervez Musharraf said that “Imran is a man who believes in delivering to what he promises”.
The former Military ruler Musarraf rebuked the Indian interviewer who insisted that Imran was a planted man of the Pak Army.
Similarly, noted security analyst Dr. Shireen Mazari while talking to the CNN TV said that the people have voted in favor of Imran Khan with a hope that he would bring prosperity to the people of Pakistan.
The CNN also talked concurrently with former Pakistani ambassador to US Husain Haqqani. However, this former Pak envoy talked in a mysterious manner and gave an impression that he was speaking the “ordered” language of someone other than a national of Pakistan. He is not happy with the just held election results which brought the Cricket star Imran Khan as the executive ruler of Pakistan in a day or two.
Okay. It is Pakistan’s problem not ours.
Dr. Mazari is likely to bag a ministerial slot in the federal cabinet soon.
Talks are that she has exhibited her keen interest for the portfolio of the country’s Defense Minister.
We end up by quoting this cricket veteran of the good old days from Australia: “As Captain he achieved the rare distinction of uniting the Pakistan team which so often performed like a skilled rabble. If he can achieve the same success as PM. Pakistan and the rest of the World will be eternally grateful”.
This has been stated by the former Australian Captain Ian Chappel. He takes Imran Khan as “Immy”
For a nation often in the news spread by some interested quarters for all the wrong reasons — suicide bombings, horrific school massacres — Pakistan has reached a turning point that could possibly alter its dysfunctional trajectory, this is what is being hoped.
Imran Khan, the cricket star and A-list celebrity whose political party won this past week’s elections as stated earlier, could use his fame and charisma to reset Pakistan’s troubled relations with the West.
Mr. Khan also may move Pakistan much closer to the expanding sphere of China, a neighbor he has praised conspicuously as a role model.
China has already made it clear that she is always with Pakistan. This means something for Immy who is expected to be sworn in on 11 August, 2018 as the new ruler of Pakistan.
Oxford-educated, with politics and economics as major subject, and once married to a wealthy British woman, Mr. Khan is clearly comfortable in the highest circles of Western power circles. He was closer friend with Princess Diana (Shortly before she died, Mr. Khan has said, he was trying to help her find a new husband). Congratulations to the Pakistani nationals. Congrats Immy!
