Nepal is a sovereign nation, Indian leaders now frankly admit

The Indian Congress under Smt. Indira Gandhi initiated the disgusting practice of imposing Economic Blockades as and when Nepal differed with the Indian regime over certain national or international issues.

Mrs. Gandhi was not happy with Nepal successive King’s having close proximity with China.

Chairman Mao and King Mahendra were good friends. King Birendra and Gyanendra kept the tradition intact but paid a heavy price later.

Thus the imposition of economic blockades on Nepal by the former Mughal empire and the fresh British colony is nothing new for ever “independent” Nepal.

If previously, it was the Indian Congress under Smt. Gandhi and her son, the Pilot turned political man Rajiv Gandhi who enjoyed much by imposing blockades on Nepal. But he paid for his immaturity inside his own country.

These two Indian leaders  from a single family  wanted to “teach a lesson” to Nepal under one pretext or the other, however, they failed in their mission and Nepal moved ahead keeping its heads high in the comity of nations.

Now the same ad nauseating practice has thus been copied by the Indian regime under BJP’s Narendra Bhai Modi.

PM Modi too wanted to teach a lesson to Nepal but had to take lessons for himself and entire BJP on how to behave with a disciplined and modest neighbor-Nepal.

Nepal taught this lesson to Delhi back in 2015.

PM Oli became the teacher to take classes for PM Modi and the same Nepali teacher is in person again going to Delhi to teach the remaining courses on diplomacy and international behavior. Modi needs to be taught the lessons wherein he is rather weak.

In fact PM Oli began to teach such lessons to Indian PM Modi  by being in Beijing for Oli was told that the sound quality aired from Beijing approached India in fraction of a second because the High Himalayas constitute no barrier for the sound-travel as had been previously taken into account during Nehruvian era that perhaps continues even as of today. But the coercive era have come to an end.

Actors have changed since then yet the colonial mindset remains intact unfortunately.

The Indian Congress perhaps being in the opposition finds it more comfortable in accusing the Modi government for all the follies that Modi has done for having penalized Nepal over these years, more so after 2015 blockade, and bluntly alleges that Modi’s reckless foreign policy adopted after BJP came into power has distanced India’s smaller neighbors and made all to go in search for a reliable partner in the region that equals the Indian size but sans the big brotherly and coercive attitude in its dealing with the India tortured neighbors.

It is this reason, and is the exact reason, that has forced the neighbors of India of the past decades and decades to side with the present day heavy weight China which has slowly but very steadily entered into the South Asian scheme of things to the extent that India’s trusted friends from the birth of India, 1947, have now willingly shifted their political allegiance towards the Chinese regime hoping that China shall not inflict pains of the Indian enormity.

Nepal took the first step later it was followed by Sri Lanka and now by the Maldives.

Albeit baby Bhutan shall never leave India alone.

The Indian Congress now desires to warn the Modi government not to copy the blunders that the former, read the Indian Congress, committed on Nepal but instead treat Nepal as an equal-sovereign partner that Nepal rightfully deserves.

Vocal among the Indian Congress member is outspoken Mani Shankar Aiyer who has advised the erratic Indian PM Modi, in his own words, “A sovereign nation should be allowed to do whatever she wants to do for the betterment of the country. If it is done so then and then only can India (implied) win the hearts of the Nepali population”.

It is altogether a different matter that Mr. Aiyer prefers to summarily forget as to how his Indian Congress had mercilessly behaved with Nepal during early 1990 and very freshly in 2005-6.

  1. P Tripathi, who visits Nepal every now and then, suggests PM Modi to utilize this moment for setting aside the compiled misunderstandings in between the two countries in the recent years.

“Thus Nepal PM Oli should be treated by his counterpart Modi in a befitting manner that Oli rightfully deserves”, as the Prime Minister of an independent nation” adds Tripathi.

He further adds, “The Nepali pain inflicted by India at time of the imposition of the economic blockade must be taken as a logical one simply because it was of a colossal magnitude”.

Mr. Nilotpal Basu, an Indian Communist, too suggested Indian government not to poke its nose on Nepal’s internal affairs.

Mani Shankar Aiyer even claimed that the successive ruling elites in India have a tendency to summarily ignore the fact that Nepal is an independent sovereign nation which is what has been impeding the smooth going in our bilateral relations.

“India should thus accept unconditionally the independent sovereign status of Nepal which is the single factor that should be taken into account in our bilateral ties”, adds Mr. Aiyer.

The Indian leaders have also advised PM Modi to listen to Nepal PM Oli’s desire on the resumption of the SAARC meet and allow the regional body to continue its business.

The SAARC body should not be held hostage simply because India and Pakistan were not in good terms, the Indian leaders also made such comments.

They are also of the opinion that India must not suspect the increased and enhanced Nepal-China bilateral relations in the recent years.

Nepal should be allowed to do whatever she wants with regard to the expansion of its relations with any country in the world more so with China in the neighborhood.

Says Tripathi, PM Modi will do well if he can help Nepal as per its requirements. If Modi becomes able to convince Oli of his helping role then this visit could be taken as a fruitful one.

Self declared Nepal expert SD Muni’s hatred for PM Oli remains intact though. Let him cry. See twitter.
