Nepal: Japan contributes to burn treatment to Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital (SKMH)

Biratnagar: The Handover Ceremony of the medical equipment(s) for burn treatment, supported by Japanese Government, to Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital (SKMH) in Shankharapur, Kathmandu, was held today, August 21, 2023.

Under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) of the Japanese Government, the project to install medical equipment for severe burn treatment to SKMH was supported with USD 90,550 (approximately NPR 10 million).

It is important for severe burns to give immediate and specialized treatment to prevent complications.

The Japanese Ambassador Kikuta emphasized that the project has been a great help for the patients and expressed his hope that the well-being of patients, their families, and communities would be significantly improved through the project.

SKMH was established in 1997 and provides medical services for the treatment of burns. Patients are brought to SKMH from all over the country as there are few facilities in Nepal that can provide treatment services for severe burns.
