Kathmandu: Following the event held at Mid-West University, the second Nepal-Japan Educational Dialogue hosted by the University of Tokyo was held on Tuesday 8th at Pokhara University with its support with more than 500 students participating in person and online.
In his video message, the Japanese Ambassador Kikuta referred to the long friendly relationship between Japan and Nepal after the first eight Nepali students were dispatched to Japan 120 years ago and the history of bilateral cooperation especially in the field of education. As its background, he explained that Japanese people firmly believe the human resource development is a foundation of nation building and encouraged the young Nepali students to follow the path.
Referring to the MEXT scholarship as well as other scholarships offered by the Japanese government such as the JDS, Prof. Prem Aryal, Vice Chancellor of Pokhara University, told the students that studying abroad should be recognized not only as an opportunity to pursue higher education, but also as an opportunity for individuals to grow globally as a person.
As former students who studied in Japan, Prof. Pawan Bhattarai from JUAAN and Ms.
Raish Maharjan participated the dialogue. They explained, based on their own experiences, the cultural similarities between Japan and Nepal they found through their lives in Japan and shared the lives in and out of the Universities.
From Japan, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, International University of Japan and Kyoto University of Advanced Science shared their respective programs for international students and the Embassy of Japan in Nepal shared the MEXT scholarship procedure.
The application and selection process at each university for admission in 2023 is currently underway.
