Nepal: Media veteran and a senior political analyst Shrish S. Rana no more

Kathmandu, 31 December: With a heavy heart, we express our deep sorrow on the sad and sudden demise of a highly academic and a world class political scientist and a very intimate professional colleague Mr. Shrish Shumsher Rana.

Mr. Rana left this material world for his heavenly abode this morning at about 12.

19 AM, early morning.

Late Rana was undergoing treatment at the King Birendra Army Hospital wherein he was declared dead by the attending doctors.

Mr. Rana for over a decade or so contributed analytical articles to the Telegraph Weekly.

His active support to the Telegraph Weekly enhanced the prestige and popularity of the English language weekly being published from Kathmandu.

Mr. Rana’s demise is surely a great loss to the nation and more so to the media sector of Nepal.

He was associated with the Rising Nepal and also appointed as the executive Chairman of the Gorkha Patra Corporation.

Mr. Rana was also a minister of Information and Communications during King Gyanedra’s brief rule in Nepal.

We at this news portal condole the death of our intimate professional colleague and a senior media veteran of the country.

Rana (70) died of cancer.

Late Rana is survived by a wife and two sons.
