Kathmandu: ‘Study in Europe’ Fair 2019, a two-day higher education fair, began at the Hotel Radisson September 27/19.
The event has been jointly organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal and its EU Member States.
It is open from 10 AM to 5 PM on 27 and 28 September, 2019.
The fair was jointly inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mr. Mahesh DAHAL, Secretary Education, Ministry of Education and H.E. Veronica Cody, Ambassador of the European Union to Nepal.
Welcoming the Chief Guest, Excellences, Honorary Consuls, Academicians (Teachers and Students) from different colleges, H.E. Cody said: “Although the quality of education is very high, studying in Europe is not only about lectures and classes, it’s also a once in a lifetime experience to discover new countries with a wealth/cultures and people, ease of travel and opportunities to learn much during the process.
Following the success of last year’s “Study in Europe Fair”, the European Union to Nepal is back again with the Second Edition. This year seven EU Member States are participating including: Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. In addition, there is a dedicated booth for Erasmus + represented by Erasmus Mundus Alumni from Nepal, says a press release issued by the office of the European Union office in Nepal.
The representatives from the participating countries will share information on scholarships and offers provided under their higher education schemes and are also offering a talk program during the fair.
Europe is famous for its traditions in education, but also for innovation. 26 out of 100 most innovative universities are in Europe. Also, according to World University Rankings 2018, 38% of the world’s best educational institutions are in Europe. Most countries across Europe offer study programs in English too, which makes higher education in Europe for international students easily accessible., the press release adds.
Europe has more than 4,000 higher education institutions, from top-level research establishments to small, specialized colleges, hosting about one-fifth of the world’s students. Europe is also recognized as the leading higher educational destination for international students, offering both cutting edge education, value for money and a rich cultural experience.
In recent years, the popularity of Europe as a destination country for study and the desire to obtain a degree from a European University among a new generation is growing gradually.
The two-day fair will provide a common platform to aspiring students to interact face-to-face with the representatives of their preferred European countries and to explore the educational, scholarship and career opportunities available in Europe.
An Erasmus + scholarship offers a minimum of 2 years free tuition in at least 2 European countries; a significant financial contribution to travel and accommodation costs; and a living allowance for the duration of studies.
The number of successful Nepali applicants for these scholarships is growing: in 2017 there were 27 awardees; but that number has grown to 52 in 2019, the EU press release concludes.
