The former Maoists leader Chandra Prakash Gajurel, popularly known as CP, has made a tantalizing revelation while talking to the BBC World Service (Nepali service) recently which must have opened the eyes of those for whom the Indian establishment is the beginning and the end of the world of politics. For a set of Indo-pendent leaders beyond India the civilization doesn’t exist.
Moreover, the secret that Mr. Gajurel has laid bare does tell several things unspoken as to how our Maoists leaders of the People’s War fame (or otherwise) had been acting almost like an Indian tool for the destabilization of Nepal and particularly the then ruling Monarch Gyanendra.
Everything must have gone so well to which the former Monarch could observe only but must have failed to take the deteriorating situation under his control.
The King was mistaken.
Things have had already gone wrong as Indian Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran had entered into the scene and taken oath to dethrone the sitting Nepal King.
In the process, good or bad, Nepal lost one of the oldest institution of the Monarchy.
Better late than never, CP Gajurel has in a discreet manner told the truth to which he should have ventilated earlier for the enlightenment of the common men in Nepal who possess the illusion that India can do no wrong to Nepal.
During the People’s War time, Gajurel was nick named “Gaurav” while being in India together with Chairman Prachanda and Dr. Bhattarai.
The fact is just the reverse as per the presumption of the sitting monarch. India can go to any extent in damaging Nepal and that too encouraging the Nepali leaders themselves. This sounds funny but the fact is that it is the fact. India has used Nepali political animals for its national benefits. India even as of today is doing the same to what it did during the Delhi sponsored agitation of the 2005-6, as is becoming evident these days.
The federal order is perhaps killing the pockets of the poor Nepali population.
The leader of the Nepal Communist Party-Revolutionary has summarized his party’s follies which his party had committed against the nation-Nepal, while residing in New Delhi during the much publicized People’s War which tentatively unseated the then Nepal Sovereign King Gyanendra.
We in the Maoists party unknowingly toed the Indian line which went against King Gyanendra who had been making serious efforts aimed at bringing the northern neighbor China in the SAARC regional body with the Observer status.
King Gyanendra was also in a mood to establish close links with Pakistan to which Indian establishment remained averse.
The Indian regime more so Dr. Man Mohan Singh, the proxy of Mrs.
Sonia Gandhi, was against King Gyanendra’s political overtures which, India considered then, were that the Nepal King was bringing close to such countries in the neighborhood with whom India had tentatively some sort of inimical relations.
The then Indian foreign secretary, Shyam Saran played villain in unseating King Gyanendra as stated earlier.
It were these two follies committed by our party more so by me and Mr. Mohan Baidya that we unknowingly extended support to the Indian malicious design in unseating King Gyanendra, in an implied manner Gajurel admits.
What Gajurel said to the BBC Nepali service has been summarized below:
The fact is that Comrade Prachanda and BR Bhattarai had submitted themselves to the mercy of the Indian establishment and accordingly the agitating seven parties of Nepal and the Maoists signed the much publicized 12 point agreement.
(The agreement was signed in Delhi).
After signing of this 12 point agreement, the movement in Nepal took a violent turn. While the 12 point understanding in between the Maoists and the seven parties were being inked, we were in the Indian jail and thus we have no idea as such as to what had been the inner intent of the Maoists party then.
To recall, Nepali observers claim that the 12 point agreement draft was prepared by the Indian regime which were signed by the Delhi residing Maoists and the seven parties of Nepal who were agitating against the King too were in Delhi.
“ Now that Nepal is a republican order already and when we evaluate our own past actions made then, it appears that we did what the Indian regime wanted internally”, said CP Gajurel talking to BBC world service.
Mr. Gajurel’s interview has come close on the heels of the forceful admission of point man of the Christian World in Nepal, Mr.
KB Rokaya who claimed only recently that nepali monarchy together with the Hindu religion and Institution of the Nepal Army constituted the three strong pillars of Nepal in the absence of any one of the three, the nation may become radar less.
In some way or the other CP Gajurel too hints that Nepali parties had acted then to what the Indian regime had desired.
Is this some sort of repentance for having been the tool for the sidelining of the institution of Nepali monarchy from Nepal? Though Mr. Gajurel is not candid in this regard but yet perhaps he is hinting at it all.
