Divided NC pose threat to Nepal Government: Report

TGW

The major coalition partner of the United Marxist Leninists’ led government, the Nepali Congress, has expressed its dissatisfaction over the lethargic functioning of the Prime Minister Mr. Madhav Kumar Nepal.

The Nepali Congress senior leadership has expressed its dissatisfaction while meeting the Prime Minister, Saturday September 5, 2009.

The Nepali Congress leader of the CA delegation Mr. Ram Chandra Poudel, Vice-Presidents Sushil Koirala, Prakash Man Singh and Arjun Nar Singh K.C met Prime Minister at the personal residence of NC leader Dr. Narayan Khadka.

Ram Chandra, Sushil, Prakash Man, K.C. and Dr. Khadka comprise a pocket of the NC leaders who have been opposing President Girija Prasad Koirala’s hegemony tooth and nail in the Nepali Congress Party.

Arjun Narsingh K.C. told the media that Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal is widely criticized in the NC meetings for his whimsical decisions in the cabinet.

The NC leadership unanimously advised the Prime Minister to change his style of functioning and take the Madhesi parties and the Nepali Congress into full confidence.

Sushil and Poudel assured the Prime Minister that there was no threat to the government from the side of the Nepali Congress.

Both the leaders told the PM not to get worried over NC President Girija Koirala’s threat loaded remarks made on Friday, September 4, 2009, wherein he had said that the NC may look for an alternative to the UML led government.

Reports say that Koirala made the statement for having ignored his repeated private requests to elevate his daughter Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala as the deputy prime minister of the country.

The Saturday meeting between the NC leaders and the Prime Minister becomes significant, which took place a day after President Koirala’s emissary Sher Bahadur Deuba, met with UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal and Maoists’ Chairman Prachanda secretly and they all apparently discussed possible alternative to the incumbent government led by Madhav Nepal.

The meeting between the three took place on Friday, September 4, 2009, at the Hotel Himalaya.

Clearly, the NC is divided in to two halves: the first prefers the incumbent government to continue and the second perhaps wants the government to crumble at the earliest. Bad days for UML led government approaching perhaps.

This is the old habit of G.P.Koirala. He knows how to dethrone and ruin the career of Nepali Congress leaders who do not like his whims. Sher Bahadur Deuba was forced out of the PM as he wanted to be the PM himself and split the party. The founding honourable member of Nepali Congress K.P. Bhattrai was forced to resign from the party; likewise the honourable leader Ganesh Man Singh’s career was over when he stood up against G.P. Koirala. When India started to openly support Prachand he felt sidelined and publicly denounced India who had always been his mentor and guide and financed him to build up his political career & install a puppet govt in Nepal. He had always regarded communists as less human throughout his career but when he saw the opportunity that could benefit him he was quick to speak for the support from YEMALE orMAOBADIS. GP Koirala is the most corrupt, cunning and cruel political personality who will go to any length to achieve his goal. We have to see how long the congress party is able to bear him and his fancy is yet to be seen. Now he wants to install his beloved daughter as the leader to succeed him. His daughter Sujata Jost is the most unpopular in the congress party who lacks almost all qualities that has to be in a leader, who also badly lost in election. Sujata’s only political strength is that she is the beloved daughter of G.P. Koirala. She is the Foreign Minister just because she is the daughter of the G.P.Koirala, despite strong opposition within the party. G.P.Koirala also wants to install his daughter as the next P.M. of Nepal. He is willing to go to any length to achieve this goal. We have to see how long the next generation leaders are able to take the whims of G.P.Koirala who apparently want to establish “koirala dynasty” just like Nehru dynasty in India!!
