Disarm Maoists for Permanent Peace: Kamal Thapa, RPP-Nepal

TGW

The Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal, Mr. Kamal Thapa has opined that unless and until the Maoist’s quit their weapon-mindset, violence in the country will continue to rise.

Mr. Thapa was addressing a Cadre Training program in Makwanpur District, September 7, 2009.

Criticizing fresh remarks made by Maoists’ Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal that Weapons of the Army should come under the control of the People, said Thapa that unless and until Maoists’ cadres are disarmed permanently, permanent peace was not possible.

Thapa also alleged that the Constituent Assembly election was won by the Maoists mainly because of their weapon-power.

“I do not see that the countrymen will get the constitution within nine months time”, he added.

“If the constitution is not drafted on time, it is likely that the country will have a military rule”, he concluded.
