Nepal Parties to discuss to solve current political deadlock

TGW

The meeting held between the self styled major three parties in the Constituent Assembly, on Wednesday September 16, 2009, reports reveal, discussed the possibility of having a Common Resolution Proposal.

Bhim Prasad Acharya of the United Marxist Leninists informed the media that some leaders were in favor of forwarding a Common Resolution Proposal at the Constituent Assembly withdrawing the sole Maoists’ version of the Resolution Proposal tabled against Nepal President step taken on May 3, 2009 that reinstated the sacked Nepal Army Chief, Katwal.

“The common proposal will address the Maoists’ demand and will also take into consideration the stance of the government”, Acharya added.

“We discussed the new proposal but could not come to a common conclusion”, he added.

The meeting went in a positive note though the leaders representing UML, NC and the Unified Maoist Party could not come to a universal conclusion over the issue, reports reveal.

The leaders came to the conclusion that prior holding the tripartite meeting of the major parties, the parties will sit-in for bilateral discussion once again.

Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai of the Unified Maoists’ party told reporters that the leaders held serious discussion to solve the current political dispute.

“We decided to hold bilateral meeting with the parties concerned, the meeting will be coordinated by the Prime Minister himself”, added Bhattarai.

“We are seriously looking for an all embracing solution to the current political deadlock”, said Dr. Ram Saran Mahat of the Nepali Congress Party.

Dr. Mahat was of the opinion that the Common Resolution Proposal, CRP, was an alternative and the parities will continue to look for further options in the future bilateral meetings.

“There are other alternatives such as the tabling of an impeachment proposal against the president and also the no confidence motion against the government”, Mahat told the media.
