NC want CA dissolved, impose presidential rule in Nepal: UML Leader

TGW

One of the senior leaders of the ruling United Marxist Leninists’ Party Mr. Ashok Rai making one hair raising revelation has said that the Nepali Congress Party had asked the UML to dissolve the Constituent Assembly and impose presidential rule in the country.

Reports quote Mr. Rai as saying that “during our talks with the Nepali Congress leadership they had said that we should not draft the constitution rather we should dissolve the Constituent Assembly.

“They mainly focused on the formation of a Commission and let it draft the new constitution”, he added.

“We out rightly rejected the NC’s offer as they said that if the constitution was drafted through the constituent assembly it would be  of the Maoists’ preference”, he added.

However, he did not disclose as to who were those leaders from the Nepali Congress who talked on this somewhat dangerous line?

In the meantime, Ramchandra Poudel, Nepali Congress senior leader, ridiculing Mr. Rai’s remarks has said that it was totally a false statement and made out of frustration because of the division in the party rank and files in the UML.
