Loot with a Nepali style

Editorial

Three political ruffians who otherwise represent different poles in country’s politics, albeit remaining in the same House, and more so appear hell bent on downsizing the other one by engineering various nefarious designs, have all of a sudden, become cordial with each other. A rare drama indeed.

The reasons? Definitely such events are though atypical one, however, as and when it is the loot of the national exchequer and distribution of lucrative posts to their near and dear ones, these political gangsters become one and manage whatever could be looted for their kith and kins. Unfortunate Nepal mother that she is!

One such ugly and dirty event has come to the open through the kind courtesy of a weekly dated November 8, 2009. We feel ashamed, and we presume that those who will read it also side with us and our feeling of shame will gain some more weight, when we are penning this story, however, since our prime duty is to “inform” and thus we wish to share our disheartened views with our valued readers both within and without.

It should have been a matter of some two weeks back when these three political thugs met at one of the residence and forwarded some brilliant ideas to each other. However, the idea was not on how to end the current dispute or any mode on how to build a New Nepal.

The first political thug proposed that a lady with lot of contributions to the party be recognised and awarded with the post of the captain of the Women Committee.

Hardly had this first political thug proposed his favorite, the second one too forwarded the name of a diehard party cadre and pleaded that he too be awarded with a lucrative post and said that his nominee was a dedicated party cadre in Ilam district.

When enough had been really enough, the boss among the political ruffians too felt somewhat uneasy and the next second proposed the name of one of his nearest relative to a post that we will expose later.

Thus the speed with which these political actors pushed the names of their favorite ones was indeed admirable one and they deserve everybody’s deep hatred for their greed to see their Hench men and relatives at lucrative posts.

So it was decided that the nominees of these political dramatists would be taken well care of by the nation’s election defeated Prime Minister. The Prime Minister apparently have had to oblige because he too was in the race for awarding one key diplomatic post to his own brother. You help me, I help you drama!

Let’s now come to the point straight.

The three political actors, reports Deshantar weekly dated November 8, 2009, were Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Party General Secretary Mr. Jhal Nath Khanal and Party Secretary Mr. Ishwar Pokhrel.

And look now at the preferred ones of these “heroes and builders of New Nepal”.

Ishwar Pokhrel, let’s call him comrade, pushed the name of his own wife, Mrs Mira Dhoju-Pokhrel for the post of the captain of the National Women’s Commission. Likewise, GS Khanal proposed the name of his own elder brother, Mr. Data Ram Khanal, for the post of the vice chairman of the Social welfare Council that apparently remains vacant at the moment.

The third one was surely Nepal’s Prime Minister who proposed the name of his younger brother, Binod Kumar Upadhyaya, that he be awarded the post of Nepal’s Consulate General in Hong Kong.

Whether Pokhrel and Khanal were provided what they demanded from the Prime Minister is not yet known, however, what is known and already been made public is that Nepal PM’s younger brother Mr. Binod Kumar Upadhyaya has already been selected by the Nepal government as the Consulate general of Hong Kong.

Junior Nepal, by the way, has also learnt some lessons on how to proceed with diplomatic conducts while being in Hong Kong.

Thanks that these politicos did not pushed the names of their near and dear ones from India.

Thus new Nepal is about to take a shape. The final shape is somewhat unclear as of now, however, intelligent brains claim that the ultimate figure of new Nepal would resemble Raxaul, Jogbani or at best Mujaffarpur, India.

That would be no less an achievement for this country which has been overloaded by the personal greed of the heroes and builders of New Nepal.
