Nepal Capital be shifted to Chitwan District: Maoist leader Badal

TGW

The General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party-Unified Maoist Ram Bahadur Thapa alias Badal is of the opinion that the Capital of the Federal Nepal should be shifted to Chitwan District from Kathmandu.

Mr. Badal who arrived in Chitwan, November 18, 2009, to take part in a program in his home district also assured the attending mass that his party fully supported the initiative taken by the local civil society members, leaders of political parties and the common men to make Chitwan the capital of the Federal Republic of Nepal.

Geographically, politically, culturally and economically, said Badal district of Chitwan was the best option to be crowned as the capital of Federal republic of Nepal.

Mr. Badal however, avoided using the word Lokatantrik (Democratic) while he was addressing at the program.

“Chitwan is prefect considering, its richness in Water resources, ample Land and Human Resources and in addition it is rich in Human Resource as well”, opined Badal.

Mr. Badal took the opportunity to repeat the popular Maoists’ rhetoric that the local and foreign reactionaries were hatching conspiracies to derail the entire peace process.

“We will ensure drafting of jansambidhan (peoples’ constitution) and successful conclusion of the peace process through our agitation”, he concluded.

Late Dr Harka Gurung asked to Nepal government to shift the capital and make mega airport in Chitwan at 1966 AD. Now all leaders of Nepal have to think positively and need to support to General Secretary and ex minister Ram Bahadur Thapa who opinioned that the capital of Nepal should be shifted in Chitwan. I would like to support him.

Five questions

alt No design to corner Maoists
Pashupati Shumser Rana , Chairman, Rastriya Prajatantra Party
Political polarization is not there as yet. To remind you, the Maoists have come only after a people’s war but not the rest of the political parties. It could be this factor which may have brought or to come to surface certain differences with the Maoists over some political issues. More..
