Nepal Maoists set ablaze unequal treaties with India

TGW

On the eve of arrival of Indian Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna, the Unified Maoists’ Party continuing with its declared fourth round of protest program Thursday January 14, 2010, set ablaze all unequal treaties signed between India and Nepal in the past.

The Maoists’ Party fourth round of protest program is presumed to expose India’s naked interference in Nepal.

The 1816-Treaty of Sugauli signed with the British East India Company, 1950-Treaty of Peace and Friendship signed with Independent India, Koshi Agreement and other unequal treaties too were burnt by the Maoists’ leaders amid the presence of hundreds of cadres in all 75 districts of the country.

The Maoists’ cadres in the districts of Jhapa, Ilam, Morang, Taplejung, Sunsari, Dhankuta, Tehrathum, Gorkha, Kathmandu, Dhangadi and others, burnt the unequal treaties and agreements.

Lekh Raj Bhatta, Maoists’ leader speaking at a program in Dhangadhi said that the burning of unequal treaties with India was a part of the Maoists’ program to liberate the country from the continued Indian domination of Nepal.

In Kathmandu, Lila Mani Pokharel-a Unified Maoists’ party central committee member burnt a copy of the treaties in Ratnapark.

Similarly, in Gorkha Maoists’ party vice chairman Mr. Narayan Kaji Shrestha led the program to set ablaze the unequal treaties.
How India reacts to all these fresh overtures will have to be carefully observed.

Wow so brave of the Maoists - still better why don't they just burn themselves? That way we can all see just how much Indian fat they accumulated in Noida in the 8 years they spent there courtesy of their "malik".
