Danish ambassador to Nepal bats for Madhesi parties
“We are of the belief that people such as Major Niranjan Basnet should be presented before the Supreme Court, who has been accused of serious human rights violation committed during the insurgency.”
The foreign diplomats serving in the diplomatic missions are known for making statements concerning human rights abuses and the growing trend of impunity. This times its Denmark’s Ambassador Finn Thilsted.
In an interaction held at Reporters’ Club in the capital January 22, 2010, the Danish ambassador said, “We want democracy, human rights and peace to be established in Nepal.”
Major Basnet is accused by various human right organizations of involvement in the murder of a teenage Maoists’ cadre Maina Sunuwar of Kavre district.
He was sent back from UN mission in Chad on this accord.
Thilsted also told the journalists that his country was very much hopeful of the smooth progress in the peace process after the formation of the High Level Steering mechanism.
However, he said that the Madhesi parties must also be inducted in the mechanism.

This Ambasador must be hauked to the MOFA and warned about interefering in the internal affairs of Nepal in public
