23 Tarai Districts of Nepal declared Tharuhat State
The twenty three districts of Tarai Plains of Nepal from Morang in the East to Kanchanpur in the West have been declared Tharuhat State.
The Tharuhat Joint Struggle Committee led by Kishor Kumar Biswas ‘Tharu’, a former Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum Leader, made the declaration in the district of Bara, February 13, 2010.
Biswas is also leading “Dalit & Janajati Republican Front”.
The Program was organized at Chatapipara of Bara.
Ramnarayan Gaura-Tharu has been appointed Head of the Tharuhat State.
“We want a separate State with the right to self rule and autonomy, similar to the one awarded to the Janajatis of Himal and Pahad”, Biswas said.
“We will not reject the idea of sub-states in our Tharuhat for other ethnic groups,” he added.
He also reminded that some 2500 years back, the Tarai plain was a separate Tharuhat state.
“If the three major parties and the so-called pro-Madhesi parties reject our demand for separate Tharuhat state in the entire Tarai plains, we are ready to take up weapons and fight for our fundamental right”, Biswas warned.
“We will grab AK-47 if our demands were not met with”, Biswas also told the attending mass.

Thanks, joint struggle committee or everyone who help to decleared Terai and inner terai Tharuhat state. Anyone who first stepped in terai that is Tharu. Before and after unification of Nepal terai is always Tharuhat. Many other people came after eradication of malaria. Well done. keep it up.

There was once a time when all of Nepal belonged to every Nepali. Now we have to decide which part is ours depending on who we think we are. What progress - keep it up for soon Tharuhat, like elsewhere, will be divided into light-skinned, dark-skinned, tall people, short people, fat people, thin people, etc, until everyone just about takes what they can from everyone else and the laws of the jungle reign supereme. Way to go New Nepal - thanks to people like Budhasen.
