Nepal Monarchy may stage a comeback: Amresh Singh

TGW

A controversial Nepali Congress leader who was not known to public prior to Peoples’ Uprising-II but suddenly came into light after Girija Prasad Koirala forcefully (under instructions from above?) appointed him as the lawmaker of Nepali Congress Party in the King Gyanendra resurrected dead parliament, Amresh Kumar Singh, talking to one of the weekly newspapers, Ghatana Ra Bichar dated February 24, 2010, makes it clear that the now sidelined institution of monarchy of Nepal could make a comeback under one pretext or the other.

“The chances remain”, says Singh.

Mr. Singh had played a covert role in managing the then New-Delhi based Nepal’s Maoists’ Party to come closer to Nepal’s so-called democratic political parties.

He is even talked to have “intimate” relations with RAW, India, which though remains yet to be substantiated.

Nevertheless, claims Singh that it won’t be a big surprise if the institution of Monarchy will stage a comeback.

“It won’t-the comeback-be possible because of the wish of general public to see the institution back in power but due to the continued wrangling in between the political parties as it prevails at the moment.”

Mr. Singh, was awarded scholarship by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu to pursue doctoral degree in Jawahar Lal Nehru University in New Delhi as a Nepali student. Singh is the student of Professor S. D. Muni, the self declared Nepal expert.

“I see that the situation after the stipulated time for constitution drafting elapses would be disastrous one”, he adds.

“Our parties have failed to institutionalize the republican order of the country” says Amresh adding, “No matter what happens and what sort of constitution is prepared we must declare the constitution on the stipulated time frame to avoid disaster which is round the corner.”

Mr. Singh has lately been hitting media headlines both in Nepal and India after his strained relationship with his wife Neetu Singh became public.

It is reported that Neetu and Amresh separated after prolonged marital conflict and the mediator was the Nepal PM himself.

if this situation of nepal is pronounced as NEW NEPAL, then i cant bear this NEW NEPAL with irregularities, systemlessness n political confusion. as a common nepali citizen i wanna wake up with the feeling that i am free nepali and i could enjoy my freedom, i could earn my livelyhood and keep my family happy. whatever be the system of government, i had seen democracy, monarchy and republic but i dont feel any change in the life style of lower class people. so whoever be the leader either king or prime minister or president, I just want is the peace and prosperous nepal. But I WANT TO BE RULED BY A LION RATHER THAN HUNDRED DEMOCRATIC MICE. JAI DESH JAI NARESH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being no supporter of the monarchy, must admit though that the odds in favour of a restoration are better than Amaresh's marriage being put back together. So keep dreaming.

I do not think the monarchy comes back in this situation.

I support Diwakar's point of view. That is what Nepalese need at this point of time. The moanrchy's comeback will be a lesson learnt monarchy and we will be certain that monarchy will not do any harm to the nation but gudie the country in the right path to glory. Why Nepalese who believe in this do not come forward openly and run a campaign? Nepalese have learnt from the incomepetent leaders not to act even though they know what is right. That is the Nepali identity now.

It seems that opinion expressed by Mr.Amresh Kumar Singh based on reality. Its not an option but a must to reinstate Institution of Monarchy in order to save this nation from distruction. Its already proven that country's brighter future and identity of separate nation could not be protected under the leadership of current bunch of power-hunger leaders.Indeed,it was a suicidal act of so called builders of new Nepal underminning and ignorging late B.P. Koirala, the only statesman so far born in Nepal, and his most fruitful policy of National unity and Reconciliation. The people of Nepal have already saw and felt how these power-hunger leaders exploit people and destroy nation's pride and dignity. So, there is no doubt, people themselves bring-back the institution of monarchy because they already knew about how they were day dreamt about new Nepal. If current leaders have yet left some good sense,it would be better from them and nation as well to reinstate the constitution of 1990 and adopt the same as interim constitution and hold fresh CA election.Jay Nepal !
