Kathmandu/Islamabad, August 22, 2022: The Nepali Ambassador to the Pakistani court Tapas Adhikari visited the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and interacted with the President Mian Nauman Kabir and members of the Chamber.
During the interactions, the Ambassador Tapas Adhikari, highlighted the need to improve bilateral economic relations between Nepal and Pakistan since both countries have great potentiality to cooperate.
He further said that the bilateral relations between the two countries have always been excellent.
As neighboring countries, both Nepal and Pakistan are the member of SAARC regional body and possess similar cultural and social backgrounds.
The Nepali envoy also shared the historical linkages between Kathmandu and Lahore that Mathabar Singh Thapa, the first Prime Minister of Nepal had spent a year exile in Lahore as back as in the 19th century.
It is also believed that Thapa was the first person holding position of Prime Minister in South Asia region.
Ambassador Adhikari also shared the Government of Nepal’s economic policies which is to facilitate foreign direct investment(s) and the envoy invited the Pakistani businesspersons to visit Nepal for trade, investment and tourism purposes since Nepal has excellent hospitality industry and it is a hub of adventure tourism.
The President of the Lahore Chamber Mian Nauman Kabir and members appreciated the visit of the Nepali envoy and the information on business opportunities in Nepal he shared with them.
They assured that they will make a program to visit Nepal in the near future to explore business opportunities and to interact with Nepali businesspersons.
They expressed their desire to host Nepali businesspersons in Lahore.
The Lahori businessmen also wished to organise a Pakistani trade fair in Nepal to let Nepali people know of the Pakistani products.
The LCCI is one of the oldest Chambers in Pakistan established in 1923.
The Chamber is celebrating their centenary by organizing various programmes.
Lahore being the capital of Pakistan’s Punjab province, is considered a center of civilization and culture.
Lahore was capital of Mughal Empire.
With the population of 11 million, Lahore is second largest city of Pakistan.
Lahore is also the center of education and industry of Pakistan.
