Kathmandu/Islamabad: The Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan, Shri Tapas Adhikari, visited, February 28, 2024, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Islamabadand, say Nepal embassy sources in Islamabad, had an interaction with the Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik and other office bearers of NDMA.
During the meeting, the Chairman shared the role and activities of NDMA and their plan for First International Expo on Disaster Risk Reduction (PIEDRR-24) since Nepal and Pakistan are prone to natural and manmade disasters.
Ambassador Adhikari thanked the Chairman and NDMA that natural disaster management is an important issue of the Government of Nepal and we are ready to work with Pakistan bilaterally, regionally and globally to share experiences, best practices to mitigate the disasters.
Notably, the NDMA is a lead agency at the Federal level to deal with the whole spectrum of disaster management lead agency of the Government of Pakistan.
It is the executive arm of the National Disaster Management Commission (NDMC) which has been established under the Chairmanship of the Prime Minister as the apex policy making body in the field of Disaster Management.
In the event of a disaster, all stakeholders including Government ministries/Departments/Organizations, Armed Forces, INGOs, NGOs, UN Agencies work through and form part of the NDMA to conduct one window operations.
