Yet another political gimmick has surfaced in Nepali politics. To be honest, after the advent of the republican order in Nepal, several gimmicks have either been played right inside the country by our own political players or at times the Indian machinery compels the domestic players to stage a stunt wherein political men or for that matter the politics parties align and realign themselves in such a way that ultimately suits to the political interests of the Southern neighbor which primarily controls Nepali politics a la baby Bhutan.
Frankly speaking, the grand merger of the Delhi residing Nepal Maoists into the mainstream UML is also taken as the inner design calculatedly crafted by the Indian establishment.
Indian intervention in Nepal’s political process has been going since 1950 and is expected to continue for long.
The Indian PM Modi is arriving Nepal in order to set the shifted alignments, if any, that should benefit the Indian interests, this is what is being generally understood in Nepal.
Whether the unification process initiated by the RPP-Nationalist led by Dr.
Prakash Chandra Lohani with that of the Nepali Congress-(BP) headed by Mr. Hari Bol Bhattarai (who was one of the nearest disciple of late NC leader Krishna Prasad Bhattarai) is the handy work of alien forces or is it a genuinely domestic step taken by credible Nepali nationals or not will have to be watched for some time to come to a fair and credible conclusion?
Reports have it that for such a unification between the two parties, a joint secretariat has already been constituted.
Mr. Bhattarai is an old hat of the mainstream Nepali Congress, however, he have had to quit the NC party for good at time of the Presidency of Girija Prasad Koirala for some reasons not made known for the public consumption.
Similarly, Dr. Lohani is a former Pancha leader with democratic bend who feels uncomfortable with the birdies with whom he flocked together in the not so distant past and thus has decided now to serve the national politics by forging unification with one of the weakest splinters of the NC led by Hari Bol Bhattarai.
Dr. Lohani wants to pursue a policy for the unified political conglomerate mainly based on late King Prithivi’s principles which stresses on “encouraging national production”, and having “balanced foreign policy” , and a “corruption free society” and above all glued with NC’s “BP’s socialism”.
Late King Prithvi is the unifier of modern Nepal.
Dr. Lohani opines that though PM Oli commands a strong government but yet he has been unable to control rampant corruption, wanton killings and apart from all these he has failed in maintaining law and order situation in the country.
The theoretical agreement for such a unification of the two parties has already been in place.
PS: Dr. Lohani has capped the possibility of unification with the RPP led by Kamal Thapa for some quite good but unknown reasons.
