-New Chinese envoy Chen Song arrives Nepal-
N. P. Upadhyaya ( Aryal)
Kathmandu: At a time when the Indian highhandedness in Nepali politics has touched a new height, the new Chinese Ambassador Chen Song has arrived, January 08, 2023, Kathmandu to take up his new diplomatic assignments.
The new Chinese envoy’s presence in Kathmandu is expected to immediately neutralize the excessive Indian penetration and interference in Nepal’s internal affairs.
The new Chinese envoy, Chen Song, appears to have landed in Nepal with a strong determination not only to increase China’s influence in Nepal in a substantial manner but concurrently also help Nepal to keep intact its national independence and sovereignty as well.
To recall, after a lapse of several decades and decades, China has talked in a determined manner of helping Nepal to preserve its national independence and sovereignty.
Prime Minister Chou En-Lai and Marshall Chen Yi used to make such statements in the fifties and early sixties.
The statement issued upon his arrival in Kathmandu speaks of it all that Beijing will not settle for less come what may.
Ambassador Chen Song’s arrival in Nepal has come at a critical time when the Indian regime is talked to be in a mood to topple Comrade Prachanda alias Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s government dubbing the present set up as a regime with distinct China bend.
The fact is that Prachanda was provided shelter by the Indian regime for well over a decade or so in Delhi enjoying the Indian government’s secret protection.
Comrade Prachanda had led a fake war called the Maoists People’s War which was primarily designed, controlled and funded by the Indian regime only to devastate sovereign and independent Nepal for a long time to come.
Later, unfortunately, Beijing too got lured by New Delhi during the political upheaval of 2005-6 and assisted wholeheartedly New Delhi in uprooting the Nepali monarchy.
The Nepal King Gyanendra who fought with the mighty Indian regime to bring China in the SAARC regional mechanism as an “Observer” was ousted by India with China’s consent.
A decade later, Beijing also got carried away by New Delhi when it signed a trading route with India in the year 2015 through a landmass that solely is Nepal’s exclusive territory.
China has yet to apologize for its diplomatic blunder. Unless China apologizes, Nepal will continue to suspect the very Chinese political credentials.
With the grand departure of Nepali monarchy from the Nepali political scene, New Delhi took control over the entire political administration of Nepal through the support of the Nepali leaders and media with excessive India bend.
Making and the breaking of successive Nepali governments since 2005-6 have depended upon the whims of New Delhi.
Since the 2005-6 upheaval, most of the governments formed in Nepal were of the choice and of the preferences of Indian regime to say the least.
Hope that the trend shall come to an end with the arrival of the New Chinese envoy Chen Song.
After the fall of the Nepali monarchy, the Indian regime began virtually to rule Nepal and its negative impact was felt when Beijing had no friends to take care of Nepal’s avowed One China policy. China too must have felt the brunt.
China has still no friends in Nepal, frankly speaking.
It was the monarchy in Nepal which had balanced India and China in its bilateral relations and had in many more ways than one kept both the giant neighbors at an equal distance.
Now that the new Chinese envoy has come, Nepali academicians hope that a fair game shall be played by the three great powers in Nepal-India, China and the USA.
But will they play a reasonable game or Nepal shall turn to be a venue of great wrangle in between the three powers, India, China and the USA to ensure and secure greater say in Nepali politics?
Having said all this, let’s listen to what the new Chinese envoy says immediately upon his arrival at the Kathmandu international airport, yesterday January 8, 2023.
That China is determined to increase its somewhat feeble influence in Nepal to a substantial level gets reflected in the statement released by the new Chinese envoy upon his arrival in Nepal.
The Chinese Ambassador statement follows issued dated January 8, 2023:

Dear friends,
It is my great pleasure to come to Nepal, a flower-filled beautiful country, as the 22nd Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Nepal. I would like to express my heartfelt respect and sincere thanks to friends from all walks of life who have cared about and supported the development of China-Nepal relations for a long time.
Linked by mountains and rivers, China and Nepal enjoy ever-lasting friendship. More than 1,600 years ago, Chinese eminent monk Faxian and Nepali eminent monk Buddhabhadra exchanged visits and cooperated in translating Buddhist classics echoed through ages. In Tang Dynasty, the eminent monk Xuanzang visited Lumbini, the birthplace of the Buddha Sakyamuni, and left precious written records. In Yuan Dynasty, the famous Nepali craftsman Arniko came to China, and built Miaoying Temple in Beijing.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1955, China and Nepal have always been respecting, trusting and supporting each other.
In the critical moments of responding to the 2015 Nepal earthquake and fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic, the two countries have lent mutual support to each other, setting an example of equal treatment, friendly cooperation, and mutual benefit between neighboring countries. In 2019, President Xi Jinping paid a historic state visit to Nepal. The two heads of state agreed to build the Strategic Partnership of Cooperation Featuring Ever-lasting Friendship for Development and Prosperity. In recent years, under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative, China-Nepal practical cooperation in various fields has been improved both in quality and efficiency, and the trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network has gradually taken shape.
In October 2022, the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was successfully held in Beijing. The most important result of the meeting was the election of a new central leadership of the CPC Central Committee with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core. China embarked on a new journey to build China into a modern socialist country in all respects and advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization.
Not long ago, Nepal successfully held federal and provincial elections, and formed new government.
its national conditions, and pursuing independent domestic and foreign policies. China is willing to work with Nepal to stay true to our original aspirations, inherit friendship, join forces to seek common development, and build a closer China-Nepal community with a shared future in the new era. As the new ambassador to Nepal, I am deeply aware of the glorious mission and great responsibility. Changes of the world, of our times and of history are unfolding today in ways like never before. In the face of new situations, new opportunities and new challenges, China will, as always, firmly support Nepal in safeguarding state sovereignty and national dignity, exploring a development path suited.
I will follow the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and Nepali leaders, stay devoted and dedicated to outline their freehand brushwork of bilateral relations into a meticulous painting. There is a Nepali saying “even a drop of water can fill a tank”. Chinese also say “the fire burns high when everybody adds wood”. I stand ready to work closely with Nepali friends from all walks of life, gather wisdom and pool strength to bring more benefits to the two peoples, and jointly write a new chapter of the China-Nepal Strategic Partnership of Cooperation Featuring Ever-lasting Friendship for Development and Prosperity.
