Biratnagar, October 23: She is Mrs. Bhubneshwari Acharya who is the founding executive Chairman of the “Mahila Jagriti and Briddhasharm” (an old age/shelter home meant for the women only).
This women old age home is running since two decades or so and thanks Mrs.
Acharya is taking care after the entire management affairs of the Oldage home mentioned above.
She is herself seemingly at a retiring age.
So far this Oldage home houses a dozen deprived ladies who have none in this material world except this home run by Mrs. Acharya.
According to Mrs. Acharya, several friendly organizations situated in Biratnagar have been in record to have already assisted this Oldage home by supplying the necessary items (like food stuffs and clothes that includes blankets etc.)
Among the many who have come forward to assist this humanitarian Oldage home meant for destitute/deprived ladies are, as told by Mrs. Acharya, the Lions Club, Everest bank, and Biratnagar Municipality and an NGO led currently by Mani Kumar Arjyal.
And in addition social workers like Roshan Khadka and, Namita rai, Tika Puri have contributed to this old age home.
The land where this home is located has been donated by the government under a thirty years long lease scheme which hopefully shall continue ad infinitum upon the expiry of the contract date.
The management says that the Oldage home has as of now a total of some seven/eight lakhs rupees in fixed deposits and the home uses the interests thus received from the fixed deposits for the upkeep of the home that perhaps includes the fooding and clothing as well of the ladies stationed in the home.
Isn’t it an insignificant amount to run such a shelter home?
Yes. Definitely. But…..
The Oldage Home visibly lacks the “financial funds” that the Home needs to maintain the daily affairs.
Most pressing problem, as per Mrs. Acharya, is the medicinal bills that comes up as and when the ladies fall sick.
Needless to say, the Corona Pandemic and the Lockdown that followed in Biratnagar for several months too came as an unexpected problem for the shelter home managed by Mrs. Acharya.
The shelter home yet survived.
Pharmaceutical bills are perhaps the topmost problem that one could notice when one talks with the Chairman of the Home Mrs. Acharya.
What is pleasing to note is the neat and clean environment inside the Home.
The apartments are kept neat and clean for the women who have made it their permanent home.
Without stretching further my remarks, I would humbly appeal you all to be of some “modest help” to this Oldage Home run so sincerely by Mrs. Bhubneswhari Acharya single handedly since the first days of its inception some two decades ago as stated earlier.
Me and my family too visited this Home this afternoon (23 October, 2021) and donated a small amount for the use of the upkeep of the Home destined for the deprived ladies from Biratnagar area.
